I loved the variety of this episode, so many beautiful scenes…Ivar with his umbrella and being tossed and chased by his uncle, Tova sunning in the grass with her brother, the new lambs, flowers, butterflies, a walk in the woods, the beautiful smoked ribs, the window work, the salyx tree, gathering with family around the table…I loved everything about it. Have you ever watched a channel called "My self reliance"? Shawn talks a lot about the forest he lives in in Canada. He believes in diversety in the forest. He has also harvested lots of trees for the cabin that he built making sure that he saves those trees that are beneficial for diversety and and cutting down the trees, when removed, to bring more sun light into the forest to let the young ones grow.

About your barbecue question. It is to GRILL in American English also. Meaning to cook over an open flame, usually on a gridiron. To grill also means to question someone intensely (in American English). To grill someone this way implies that they may have done something wrong. Most Americans prefer grilled food to being grilled about what they've been up to.

Here in the US Midwest, grilling is cooking over a fire or coals. BBQ is smoking or slow cook over indirect heat for meat a long time with a BBQ sauce or a rub.
