Rachel, I personally feel frightened because we are going through a period of a few months in which the current president has given up on the pandemic altogether as it dramatically worsens. He is secretly choking off funding from important institutions and, in general, is undermining our democratic processes.
Its a kind of irrational revenge and hatred he feels towards the general public (ie you and I). I gather we can do nothing except wait until he is out of office and try to right his grievous wrongs. I am left feeling helpless during the final catastrophic moments of his failed presidency.

Who wants to bet Trump will try to jump on stage and take the oath? Or hold his own "Alternate Inauguration Parade"

Hoover (R) and FDR (D) hmmm. Seems that in the "lame duck" period they aren't that lame. Other countries have a "caretaker period" - no major contracts, appointments etc. can be made

2020 and 2021 homeless camps and shanties should be called Trump Towns, just like Hoovervilles.

For someone who is deathly afraid of being called a loser, t'rump deciding to set himself up for 59 more post-election loses is an interesting strategy? 🤔😅😂

Three times is the charm. We tried March. We tried January. The time is now to make it late in November!

I wasn't aware of this. Interesting!

What I don't understand is, that a transition is taking so much time. This is far too long.

Why don't Americans have affordable healthcare, education and housing like they did in 1950s ?

Hoover was one of our most evil presidents, and he had stiff competition.

I am glad you pointed out the fact FDR had 4 terms, they all conspired together to limit the power of the president of and for the people. if they did it to the president, then why not to themselves? I'll tell you why they want to hold onto power.

The system needs a major overhaul. Time to look to other democracies that do it better!

Thank God we don't have to wait till March for the swearing in!!

What should have happened was (in my opinion) to prorogue the house and allow the Speaker of the house to take over until a new government is sworn in.
This would have save us a little embarrassment from the lame duck as he tries to continue to dish out orders as if he is still a full fledged president.
I hope they give this thought because we can possibly have more Trumps rising up.

Sean Hannity seems to have adopted Herbert Hoover's hair style. Seems consistent with the political philosophy that he has also adopted.

I was always able to remember when presidents were inaugurated because March 4th was my birthday. Then Congress changed it to January 6th, because while we no longer had to travel by horse carriage, cross country travel by train was still slow. Today we can travel in hours from coast to coast, so moving the inauguration to November 30th seems more logical. The transition period can happen just as effectively, with the president elect presenting his new cabinet to a new congress by the end of January. Believe it or not, some countries don't allow an outgoing administration to make changes to laws during the transition period!
