In this video, you are going to learn how to make crusty towels feel new again with a very simple trick.

Everyone loves coming home after a long, busy day, taking a shower, and drying off with a soft, clean towel.

Towels are household items that we can use frequently, so it's normal for them to absorb less and less over time, and acquire a certain odor. Then, just to make matters worse, we tend to wash them the wrong way, making them rough.

In today's video we are going to teach you an interesting trick to wash your towels and make them as soft and clean as if they were new.

This recipe calls for two easy to find ingredients: white vinegar and baking soda.

Baking soda is one of the best natural alternatives to clothes detergent, since it cleanses and deodorizes naturally. It's very useful at getting stubborn smells and stains out of clothes.

White vinegar, on the other hand, can be considered a natural detergent. It's a great cleaning product due to its high concentration of acetic acid. This acid degreases, disinfects, gives shine, eliminates odor and maintains softness. White vinegar is the best kind of vinegar to clean with since it's neutral, and has no artificial coloring or aroma like other vinegars.

Here's the recipe:

1 cup of white vinegar;
Half a cup of baking soda;

Instructions

Wash your towels in the washing machine with hot water and the vinegar.

Leave the towels in the machine, and fill it up again with hot water and this time add the baking soda.

Run the machine for one more cycle, and then, hang your towels out to dry.

If your washing machine doesn't have a hot water option, then you'll have to do it by hand.

Let your towels soak in hot water with the vinegar and baking soda for 30 minutes.

Once the time is up, scrub them, and let them soak for thirty more minutes.

This works. I use a combination of baking soda, borax, washing soda and vinegar for different items and levels of dirt, and I also use it in my pool. It's cheaper, works better with the chlorine tabs for longer periods of time. I also use Fels Naptha soap in a homemade liquid detergent. All of these are cheap, go far, and works well.

I tried this and the towels came out hard but they smelt better. Hanging towels out to dry definitely makes mine hard,

I have really bad asthma and because of it, I went to a class at our local hospital that was taught by an RN on how to live a better life with asthma.
She highly recommend that we wash all our clothes and linen in this vinegar and baking soda solution

Hi and thank you for all your tips. This particular tip sounded great, but hanging out to dry is not an option for me. Why that and not using the drier? Towels hanging out to dry usually come in stiff. Even if I did have a place to dry outside.

If in washing machine you separate vinegar and baking soda, why you put it together in the bowl when doing it manually?

I use washing soda, cheaper and does the same as baking soda. Just dissolve the crystals in hit water first, add to machine. Leaves your towels so cuddly. (Don't forget the rinse cycle)

With the newer HE washers, you can't fill up the washer. The machine senses the clothing by weight and adds the appropriate amount of water.

If towels are too soft they don’t dry well.I like rough towels, good for exfoliating while drying!!

Hang them out to dry, you say. That's about all you need to do after washing and rinsing. But its not a bad idea. Vingar and B S are natural water softeners and deodorizers.

Not an option for me. Don't have my own washer/ dryer. That many washes would cost me close to $10
