Any old phone (even if the service is turned off) can still dial 911. If you're taking a trip, have an old phone charged and keep it in the glove box or in your luggage in case you need to make the important call

Hubby needed a new alarm clock. I said "Use your phone." He said "No, the texts and calls wake me up." I said "No, use that old phone that doesn't have a phone connection any more." That is his alarm clock now sitting on his night stand. Maybe not as cool as the applications Liron was giving but hey, it works great as a simple alarm clock.

This is quite possibly the best darn tech channel on YT. No fluff, no bloat, no beating around the bush for 5 minutes, Liron gets right down to the nitty gritty everytime, and every video is always full of fantastic, useful info. That's so refreshing. I love the webcam and dashcam uses.

1. Can be a dedicated music player
2. It can be used to stream videos on TV via Chromecast. Works as a handy remote too.
3. If it is a smartphone, it can be used as Hotspot device for Wi-Fi

I use one of my old phones as an alarm clock. Airplane mode allows it to go for nearly a week between charges, and no worries about the power going out and resetting the time like a traditional clock might. 😍

The 6th thing you can use your old phone is to place it on a stack of papers to keep them from blowing away.

They all sound great but the dashcam one wins hands down for me. Thanks!

Fate! A co-worker came to me, 'cause I am the techiest person around 😊, and asked about using a tablet as a second monitor. I told her I would look to see what I could find and two days later this pops up! Thank you so much!

Legend. I did not know about any of these apps. This is why I am here, you are the best teacher around, and with all the things you have shown me, I am a better person. Brilliant video.
Thank you, Liron.

After watching Liron video on OLD USB and this one, I have loaded about 60 GB of music on Old USB stick, stuck that into the back of my WiFi server, then I took old iPhone, connected to WiFi and then connected old phone jack to my kitchen dining room stereo and stream music from the OLD USB stick.

You can also stream video or music from the internet (ie Netflix, PlutoTV, YouTube, WiFi or OLD USB stick) through the old phone and use an HDMI/Power adapter attached to the old phone lightening port to a television/monitor via the HDMI port. Works fantastic!

I can imagine using most of these at once. Lounging on the couch for some down time, use one phone as keyboard/ mouse and another for remote monitor while another one is in dash-cam or security mode outside.
You can see who's knocking at your door, send a command to start recording and save to desktop, maybe upload to the cloud or go live if it's "badguys" so they can't just destroy the evidence of their crime by stealing your phones and computer. LOL
The possibilities are endless.

I just need to find one of the dash-cam apps that supports looping recording so it doesn't stall out when the memory is full. It'll just start overwriting old vid.

Great video here, sir.

Alot of phones can be used as a Wifi Access point. Just connect a power transmitting USB Hub (I have a very simple USB-C hub that has power delivery), USB to Ethernet adapter and Ethernet from your stationary router. . Also many old phones are FM Radios. All you need is Power and any cable you plug into the headphone jack. Only needed as antenna....you can still switch to internal speakers.

Much appreciated. I learned a lot. I am using "Meshtastic" and this means I can use an old cell to Bluetooth pair and operate. Great for hiking with friends where there is no cell service.

If you're going out to a dodgy area take an old phone with you. If you get mugged and the mugger says "gimme your phone" you just give him the old one.

I use them also as a dedicated camera, mounted over a table for taking pics of items to sell, or cataloging personal inventory.

If not already available a cool function for a old phone would be an app to turn it into a back up camera for vehicles, for those of us without the financial means to afford newer rides with them, it would improve safety as well as just being cool.

I don't even care about this kind of stuff but the pure value factor of what this content offers has made me subscribe just now

Fantastic video. All of these are very useful if a person has not yet discarded his old mobile. Using the mobile as dashcam is pretty genius. Will try that with my old mobile.

I use my old phones everyday for entertainment. Load them up with music/movies/videos/podcasts etc. and you never have to worry about draining your main phone's battery or how much data you are using. While out and about, it keeps you occupied. It also works great if your main phone is a work phone. Your employer doesn't need to know any of what you're doing on your phone.
