This irony has never been lost in the Church. Without His blessing, by eating of the tree man trespassed and He cast us out of Eden. In the fall, trespass led to more trespass as man sought after vain glory. But in Christ He united the tree of life with the tree of knowledge on the tree of the Cross, and invites us to repentance so we can eat of it to share in his true glory and to experience proper divinization by His grace.
