In this video, we aim to represent the voice of Turkish consumers and shed light on BYD's pricing strategy and the role of its distributor in Turkey. As Turkish consumers, we have high expectations from BYD as a global leader in electric vehicles. However, the recent launch in Turkey has left many questions unanswered, and we're here to explore these on behalf of the local market.

BYD’s Entry into the Turkish Market and Pricing Strategy
BYD recently introduced four new models to Turkey: Dolphin, Atto 3, Seal U EV, and Seal U DM-i. While the models have exciting features, their pricing has raised eyebrows. For instance, the BYD Dolphin was launched at a starting price of approximately 1.28 million TL (around $37,000). Such pricing has sparked a wave of concern and dissatisfaction among potential buyers in Turkey.

Price Comparison: Turkey vs. Europe and China
To better understand the pricing disparity, we compared the Turkish prices of BYD models with those in Europe and China:

BYD Dolphin: While it starts at €29,990 in Europe and even lower in China, the Turkish price is significantly higher.
This raises a critical question: Why are Turkish consumers paying a premium, despite the country's potential market size and BYD's access to EV incentives?

EV Incentives and Tax Breaks: What’s the Truth?
There is considerable confusion surrounding BYD's eligibility for Turkish EV incentives. While local news indicates that BYD plans to establish a production facility in Turkey with an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles, the lack of clarity around official incentive approvals has led to speculation.

If BYD has received these incentives, why are prices still so high? If not, why was the launch scheduled before securing such vital support? This miscommunication has eroded trust and sparked frustration.

Distributor's Role and Infrastructure Concerns
BYD's Turkish distributor markets the brand as "premium." However, the reality seems inconsistent with this positioning:

Limited or nonexistent service networks.
Absence of features such as built-in internet connectivity in vehicles.
A lack of transparency regarding model specifications tailored for Turkey compared to China.
Is this a case of poor execution by the distributor, or has BYD Global underestimated the Turkish market's expectations?

Consumer Feedback Matters
We, as Turkish consumers, are passionate about sustainable transportation and innovation. BYD’s entry into Turkey represents a significant step forward for EV adoption in the region. However, to build a lasting relationship with Turkish consumers, BYD needs to address the following:

Be transparent about pricing and model differences across markets.
Clarify the status of EV incentives and how they impact pricing.
Ensure that the distributor upholds the quality and reliability that BYD represents globally.

Byd is a complete disappointment. Unfortunately, its non-transparent pricing policies have alienated people. That's why my choice is the Tesla Model Y. I hope this video reaches the right places. Also, thank you Engin, for making such a video.

I completely agree! BYD global should reconsider using a local distributor in order to minimize selling prices and maximize the sales, which will surely happen if they do so!

Thanks for the great Video Engin Hodja.

I was so excited when i heard byd is coming to Turkiye. But later on i saw prices and I ordered Tesla Y. Now, I am thinking to buy 2nd car which is for my wife. I excited one more time just before BYD’s new announcement but i got disappointed one more time. I dont think i will give this brand 3th chance. But they still have time to turn from their mistake Which is for their future customers.

I totally agree. BYD must review their pricing and selling strategy as soon as possible. Otherwise, BYD’s coming to Türkiye will just be a disappointment. Turkish consumers are just expecting similar prices as the ones in EU and China. That’s all.
