I have a few recommendations for useful apps:
Evernote for notes and archiving everything
Clips is a clipboard manager widget
Bandcamp is like iTunes but for indies
Unread is to read Facebook messages without sending a "read" receipt
Flipboard for news
Instapaper for reading articles
Stocard for loyalty cards, just hide the app and use the notification widget
