What's your favorite Robert Eggers movie? I have to go with The Witch!

This is one of the best of the year. For. Sure.

Eggers is honestly one of the most skilled directors working today. There were at least a hundred different frames in this film that I wouldn’t mind having mounted on my wall. I think I was hoping it would be a little scarier? Still excellent, though.

Another banger review Sully! We had to sit out on this one sadly, but will definitely watching as soon as I can. Only hearing positive things coming out and this now solidified a watch for me. Keep up the great work

Great review man, I'm glad to hear you really enjoyed Nosferatu as I've been seeing great reviews for it. Unfortunately in Ireland we don't get it until new years day but I'll definitely be planning on seeing it when we get it. Thanks for the review, have a great Christmas and a happy New year!!!

Sounds like Eggers is 4-0 in his discography now. Ditching the family Christmas Eve party will be worth it🙂‍↕️😭

I liked it, but have to watch it again.. I didn’t get as surprised as of The Witch and Lighthouse.

”I am your neighbour now” made me laugh.

Glad you finally got to watch this one! I agree with all ur points. It’s such a great gothic horror tale with some amazing performances. I think my favorite is Lighthouse but I want to see how this movie holds up on rewatch. Great review, Sully.

We are in the 19th century where scientific progress and skepticism led people to doubt supernatural elements such as vampires and witches. There was no psychoanalysis yet and Freud didn't exist yet. Much of what Ellen suffered as a young girl was due to her frustrations. Eggers probably addresses more themes of Thanatos, Eros and Freud's dream theory to develop the story.

I'm actually looking forward to this one. I can't say I've loved any of his movies so far, but I did enjoy the northman well enough. Great video man.

“Too slow or too artsy for some” sums it up for me. Artistically brilliant. Script and pacing not so much. I could have cut out the other couple, their friends, and not changed the plot much and saved 20+ minutes, that would have been a start. Apparently my criticism is the minority and getting and f praise heaped on it. I liked the atmospheric nature of the film but could have found a ways to chop (scenes) and maybe chomp (bite) a little more.

Loved the idea of Nosferatu, epic visual masterpiece aside, this film was awful and half the theater was asleep

I can't wait. Starts in an hour. I'm so tired but I have to see it now 😂

Im so disappointed that he didnt have Portal produce the music for this film. I wish he would have just left the overplayed and tired composer ecosystem that hollywood abuses just this once at least. Hollywood just recycles and resuses the same compsers or aimilar enough compositions over and over again because its safe. Listen to Curtain by Portal and watch the music video with good headphones. Now imagine that music paired with scenes in this movie like orlock's hand shadow creeping over the city, the camera panning around his gothic castle, or the chariot scene.... it would have created an extremely dreary gothic tone and atmosphere

This movie didn't really seem like a horror movie as much as it did a love story. It was meh 😕 in my opinion.
