In London, Dracula emerges as a wolf-like creature amid a fierce thunderstorm and hypnotically seduces, then bites Lucy Westenra, with whom Mina is staying while Jonathan is in Transylvania.

Bram Stoker's Dracula is a 1992 American Gothic horror film directed and produced by Francis Ford Coppola, based on the 1897 novel Dracula by Bram Stoker.
It stars Gary Oldman as Count Dracula, Winona Ryder as Mina Harker, Anthony Hopkins as Professor Abraham Van Helsing, Sadie Frost as Lucy Westenra and Keanu Reeves as Jonathan Harker.

This movie based on Bram Stoker's classic novel, "Bram Stoker's Dracula" tells the story of the Count's pursuit of Mina, the reincarnated embodiment of his lost love, Elisabeta whom he lost to suicide while he was off defending the cross in a great battle. Upon the discovery of her death, Dracula rejects the church and vows everlasting life and vengeance. The movie takes place in the nineteenth century beginning in London, where the count lures Jonathan Harker - the present-day fiancé of his deceased love --to his castle in Transylvania. Through the duration of the film, individuals fall victim to the undead Count and his lascivious minions as wolves, rivers of blood, and overall turmoil set up the ultimate battle between good and evil.

In 1993, the film was released on VHS and LaserDisc. The VHS release was a special box set in the shape of a coffin.
Dracula was first released to DVD in 1999 and again as a Superbit DVD in 2001. The DVD included several extra features.
A two-disc "Collector's Edition" DVD and Blu-ray was released in 2007.
In 2017, a Blu-ray remastered 4K HDR encoded version was released.

Those flowing, billowing nightgowns and curtains are so gorgeously dramatic! The whole scene is so dreamlike and ethereal, as it should be!

You know what keeps this movie fresh? It's the way it depicts vampires and the supernatural elements that surround them. Dracula takes so many different forms in this movie that you get the impression that vampires are entirely incorporeal and the atmosphere makes them really seem more like revenants. The film also goes a long way to depict surreal scenes like this and the other characters can barely believe what they're seeing. It ends up feeling like a a big feverish nightmare. The set design, costume design all help to make this film a visual feast.

My my jaw dropped when I saw this scene as a kid 😂 didn’t expect the outcome but there we go. I don’t think any other Dracula movie would dare pull this off but this scene was done so well

This Dracula changed the way I view vampire movies. No vampire movies has ever been able to match this

The costuming in this film is so amazing and over-the-top. Most were designed by Eiko Ishioka, an avante-garde artist and graphic designer doing fashion for the first time (and doing it spectacularly.) Coppola declared from the start that “The costumes will be the set" and she carried that vision out with Dracula's flayed-skin battle armor and his initial appearance in London as a "macaroni" dandy with his green/blue eyeglasses, Renfield's straitjacket that resembles an insect cocoon, Mina's red dress that flows like blood when she finally succumbs to Dracula... she put her stamp on almost every outfit shown in the film. A number of costumes like Lucy's wedding dress/burial gown and Dracula's death robe are almost exact copies of garments from Klimt paintings. In terms of costuming, it was a tour-de-force.

Francis Ford Coppolas adaption is absolutely stunning.. Visually mesmerising. Gary Oldman surely deserved an Oscar. I loved this film. Christopher Lee is still the scariest Dracula for me.

this scene is so beatiful yet, so hauting... the way that Lucy goes to him, in a state of not controlling her mind. Its just perfect!

The way this movie depicted Dracula - a vampire lord - as this overwhelming supernatural force was so effective. A good use of German expressionist influence.

Such a great movie. And Sadie Frost did a fantastic job as Lucy. She starts out so adorable and then as Dracula slowly takes her over, she becomes more seductive and intense. By the end she is completely different.

The music after all these years is still haunting. This is one of the most lush adaptations of Dracula yet.

I remember being like 10 or whatever when this was airing on a loop on HBO. I’d tie my mother’s satin sheet around my neck and walk around the house dragging it behind me. She thought I was pretending to be a superhero when really I was pretending I was under Dracula’s seductive thrall and was helplessly walking to my ultimate fate - in this case - being simultaneously drained and pounded by a man shaped wolf on a stone slab. 😅😂

I love this movie. The absolute best Dracula movie ever with Frank Langella a far, far second. Gray Oldham deserved an Oscar. He should have at least been nominated!! 🦇🦇🦇
