I had to do a public apology to the minecraft story mode after seeing this

The Minecraft movie was essentially written in 2014 and then went through production hell until the Mario movie caused enough uproar to go full throttle and finish the Minecraft movie.

So it used absurdly old gimmicks and ideas for the plot
