Paul, I’ll answer your question here… thanks for asking it.
1. Sbux opened 1000 plus stores but had decrease in total sales. Comps are a super red flag.
2. All across the US of A competition is opening by the droves. This is putting immense pressure on margins as Sbux responds to competitive pricing.
3. With an economy that is reeling from compounded inflation many can no longer make a daily trip to their gourmet coffee shop.
4. The food offering at Sbux has been bland, pricey and an after thought for years. It will take time to get it right.
5. Higher wages puts pressure on a house full of employees. I see the reductions of bodies in the store or two I’ve been in. It effects service levels and as an interested potential investor I’ve heard story after story of poor service that has not been the norm in past years.
6. I’m not passing judgement but I have concerns with upper mgt and their understanding of the retail world concerns me.
7. I could go on but these are fundamental issues that cycle through all great retail companies (and Sbux qualifies as great). But their days of ease have past and it will be a feat not often accomplished if they can do more than hold their own…

Starbucks is also suffering from boycotts in many markets due to the ME conflict. This makes the stock (like McD) risky.
