Today I discuss how reliable my 250,000 mile (400,000km) Mazda B4000/ Ford Ranger has been. This video is a POV with my new GoPro Hero 7 Black, and I'm super impressed with it so far.

Hope you guys like the video. I also realized that I forgot that the check engine light is on. Assuming it’s an O2 sensor.

This is my first video with my new GoPro Hero 7, I’ll be using it for all POV, and in car footage. It’ll be much better than the shaky setup I had before!

A few things you have going for you with the Mazda (Ranger) is a simple design and a low reving engine. I have a '96 B3000 (Vulcan V6) 4wd that picked up cheap a few years ago as a utility truck for our little homestead, as it ticked a few boxes for me. First, it is simple. Rubber mats and manual (trans., window, hubs, etc.) everything. Only complexity it has is the 4wd, but even the hubs are manual which are typically stronger and less complicated vs. the auto versions. Simple means it is easy to live with. The second consideration is the engines, do the the nature of the beast, rev slower than say a typical car. Because of that, these old cast iron engines are generally under less stress. This all leads to something that you can put some miles on, a long with doing the needed maintenance, of course. I will admit, I picked mine up in a little rougher condition, as I was planning to put a flatbed on, so some typical rust on the box and some dings were not a deal breaker for me. Not where it gets used. The flip side was it had relatively lower mileage (130k mi/210k km). It is in my shop now with a bad clutch. (I was watching some vids on that when I stumbled on a few of yours.) A little bit of a job, to be sure, but kind of the thing you can do yourself and you have to expect on a truck of this age. And once done, of course, it is good for quite a long time if driven properly. Nothing special about the old truck, really, but I will admit I really am fond of it. Just a simple, honest little truck. Something to be said for it.

Hey man, I just recently checked out a 94 b4000 4x4 auto with 230, 000 miles, test drove it and was very mechanically sound, but it has a couple things wrong with it. I work on my own cars and bikes so it's not a problem for me to get to fixing. Here's the list, rear bumper needs to be replaced or bolted back(held on by ratchet strap), Needs new tires all around. A/c does work but inside of the knob/ control unit is broken so the settings can't be switched, Brakes were spongey( sunk all the way to the floor but didn't see any leaks) Passenger window doesn't roll down( window motors are new but it comes off the line). The stereo unit has a cd stuck in it or something. The good things are is that we came to a price of $1200, it also has a paint matched camper shell, it drove really nicely. Don't know if I should buy it considering how much needs to be replaced/fixed along with maintenance. If you want to see pictures and videos I can email them to you and we can talk about it. I'm needing a cheap truck for work but I don't know much about these trucks or which is the best year to buy. Also should I consider looking for one with a manual trans. I just sold my 89 Nissan Sentra 5 speed manual with high miles. Thanks Liam. let me know.
