Silmarillion is one of those books that's on my imaginary TBR. One of those books that I want to read... but also don't want to.

I just finished The Silmarillion. I'm mad at myself for believing all the negative hype about it. It was Amazing, I look forward to re-reading it many more times in the future.

I've read The Silmarillion and mostly enjoyed it. However I would call it a different genre from Lord of the Rings and most modern fantasy. I would call it mythology rather than fantasy even though it has fantastical elements. So it's understandable that readers of fantasy may not feel like reading The Silmarillion even if it's written by Prof. Fantasy himself.
