I have now actually played with these rules, and while I maintain that it is a better game than the common rules, it is still pretty bad. The final carcass can only be rescued with a 1 in 50 chance (or a 1 in 25 chance with the waterslide), but there is a much greater chance of hitting a cursed land and losing one of your carcasses.
Impressively, I think this game would last longer than the Dragon Tomb rules for Ticket to Ride.

Play Snakes and Ladders instead. Same gameplay with a much shorter playtime.

We have a homebrew rule that you use your assistant+ any rescued corpse when randomly selecting the numbers. Really helps speed the game up!
