You could've just shaken the container.

Biology girl here... I wouldn't use this for a long period of time. Products are formulated and stabilized to prevent microbial growth. When you add water to any product, it changes the ratios. Water encourages microbial growth. The mold and bacteria inhibitor, in the product, does not account for added nonsteril water. This goes for soaps, hair products and lotions etc. I wouldn't use it for longer than a week personally.

That was AMAZING. I’ve never heard this before and I thought no way no how this could work - ESP when you filled the rest of the jar w water.
That. Was.

Mind blown.

I no longer use hair gel, I went on Amazon and bought a gallon of aloe vera gel, the one that you use for sunscreen, and I use that to hold my hair now. My hair has been growing longer and faster, and it is so strong from using pure aloe vera as gel you guys should try it.

Notes from a cosmetic formulator.

-The addition of water to stretch any cosmetic product throws the formula off balance.

-Water introduces microbes and bacteria into the product, and now your product is no longer shelf stable and can develop yeast and mold or cause an adverse reaction to your hair and skin.

-This also waters down the product and will affect the performance of this product negatively.

*Please take caution when trying trends on the internet because not all trends are safe.

Keep it in the fridge if you must do this. This is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and fungus that you’re putting directly on your head. Water is a substrate for all living things even little things you can’t see!

So I’m 45 and I’ve been using this gel ever since I was 13 years old. So how it works is the more water you pour The consistency of the hair gel will be… let’s just say …looser not as firm/not as strong of a hold. if you have quite a bit left and you pour a little water in there, it will maintain a stiffer consistency, meaning more hold versus loose n watery. I honestly have one with water added, and one without. I use the one with water at it if I want a looser type of curl meaning my hair won’t be so crunchy. The gel will have a softer hold the more water you apply into the mixture.

Does it work as well? Or is it less effective? Is it more moisturizing?

Use flaxseed gel it changed my whole hair Texter in my life. It made me fall in love with my hair. Blackseed gel is the best I’m making it myself.

Pour it in and shake it up. Shaking it makes it gelatinous quicker than stirring it. It works on other gels too!

I used to make my own custard by adding oil to the eco gel and shaking the jar.
Try closing the lid and shaking next time to see if that works instead of stirring. 😊
