Bentley Bentayga V8 2024 review: Azure | Does the new luxury SUV outdo Range Rover and Aston Martin?

The 2024 Bentley Bentayga has arrived in Australian showrooms, with the upper-large SUV getting a model year update that ushers in a couple of new variants. The S Hybrid focuses on performance, while the Azure Hybrid goes all-in on luxury. But that's not to say that either grade is lacking in either department.

Point being, the Bentayga is moving into the electrification era with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, taken from the mechanically related Porsche Cayenne PHEV. That said, the Bentley also remains available with a thumping 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 engine that's also shared with the Porsche.

In this expert review, CarsGuide Senior Journalist Richard Berry and his family of four spend a week living with the Azure V8 to find out just how well it blends performance and luxury in everyday life. After all, competition from the likes of the Aston Martin DBX is very stiff.

Ive always seen the bentayga as luxury suv for the wealthly where they can drive and blend in in the city rather then a flashy car. Not for everyone. Silent wealth. Bentley for heavy weights. Old school market.

The 2025 Genisis Gv80 Coupe looks more like a Bentley than the Bentayga.

A bettter luxury SUV than all others out there...including the RR Cullinan.
Not everyone will agree and different strokes for different folks....I am partial to Bentley having done a factory tour in Crewe, England 8 years ago and they are handcrafted to perfection.

Agree with you. It's a shame it's so almost there but not quite. The GT and the flying spur are breathtaking, but the Bentayga design just does not hit the mark. Really wish it did though. Great review

When driving this car in ACC mode at low speeds, there is a loud noise when the brakes are automatically applied. Additionally, in my car, the engine does not start when I release the brake in auto-drive mode. While the exterior is visually stunning and the car offers exceptional comfort during high-speed driving, you will notice numerous issues during low-speed driving once you experience it. Furthermore, the service center currently has no solution for these problems, so I am left waiting without any resolution.

Rear indicators are invisable and a saftey issue. When they manufacture a small yellow light surrounded by a brighter red all you see is the red.
