We know Jupiter is the big, it's really big. But what's even more shocking is when you look at the orbits of it's moons. Let's take a look!

At one time, Pluto was considered a planet of the Solar system.
At some point one has to draw a line, otherwise every rock trapped by the Sun's gravity can be considered a planet, including the rocks in the asteroid belt.

The same holds for moons.
At what point is an object orbiting a planet considered a moon as opposed to just being a rock/satellite?

I would like to see a diagram of all the planets and their moons orbiting the sun at scale.

Some of Saturn's moons are crazy too, with three moons all going around Saturn in one orbit is some places...Mimas the "Death Star" moon, Enceladus with south pole geyers feeding Saturn's F Ring. Both gas giants have a chaotic moon systems.

At this point I'm convinced that Jupiter is just kidnapping random moons that just happened to Rome by Jupiter sees a new moon and says hey come here I want to add you to my collection😂

I will not be surprised if they discover Jupiter's moons have their own satellites going around them, considering their sizes.

When you consider that Jupiter's "job" in the solar system [thinking in a grotesquely teleological way] is to sweep out asteroids and rogue Kuiper belt objects (maybe an occasional Oort cloud object) to make the inner system livable for us humans. Most rogues get sucked into Jupiter's depths, but some of them undoubtedly get captured into orbit, and go from asteroid to moon.

If we could see the orbits of all the moons in our sky, it would cover 5°! That’s bigger than the Andromeda Galaxy (from our perspective), or 10x the size of the Full Moon!
