Nineteen-year-old Telan Mann began receiving Instagram messages from an attractive man looking to meet up with him in Daytona Beach, Florida. Mann set up plans to meet with who he believed to be a gentleman. What happened next would shock the community. On June 23, 2022, police rushed to a neighborhood after gunshots in the area and found a gruesome crime scene. Officers observed a man on the ground, bleeding out from multiple gunshot wounds with shell casings surrounding his body. The victim was identified as Telan Mann.

Investigators made contact with Mann’s sister, who permitted them to search her brother’s phone. Detectives found a chain of over 170 DMs on Instagram between Mann and an account with photos of a semi-pro basketball player from Orlando, yet, the account didn’t belong to the college athlete. By using surveillance footage from a nearby school and apartment complexes, police identified a prime suspect in Mann’s murder — Jakari Webb. Detectives obtained a search warrant for Webb’s home and when they arrived, the then-19-year-old fled on foot. When law enforcement captured Webb, they sat him down in their interrogation room and laid out all the evidence while the suspect attempted to deny everything. Watch the full interrogation of catfish killer Jakari Webb on this episode of Law&Crime Interrogations.

So he kills someone who exposes him as being gay, only to spend the rest of his life in prison around gay men tough enough to make him their boy. I’m assuming logic has never been his strong suit.

I think he was so mad at himself for being gay, that he took it out on the person he liked. He’s mad that he can’t come out as being gay, mad that his friends made fun of him and blames all this on that guy and kills him.

I'm always fascinated watching criminals fall for the psyop that detectives use. "I'm here to help you." "You can trust me." "I know you want to get this off your chest, you'll feel better."

I thought the detective was empathetic and outstanding. He got a confession with hardly an ounce of intimidation.

I love how the detective is pretending to act as a concerned, caring dissapointed father only to get as much info to get jakari behind bars

So dude choose to throw his life away, rather than live life as his true self. That's irony for ya.
