In Dutch we have "Heb je je tong verloren?" (Did you lose your tongue). In a slightly different way: the other person is suddenly silent, although he is expected to speak (for example: answering a question).

It's interesting the fact that the same expression exists in Portuguese ("O gato comeu sua língua?") but i think it's more used with children (though this isn't set in stone).

edit: I've seen that many people have related the same.

In Portuguese, the phrase is "O gato comeu sua língua?". I believe it is typically said to children when they are silent due to some misbehavior.

Here in Brazil we say "O gato comeu sua língua?"

"Did a cat eat your tongue?"
