This is somewhat true, though I personally fake a smile well because as a child I found it difficult to motivate myself to smile all the time so I had to pay attention and learn to artificially scrunch my eyes when I'm faking a smile. My daddy actually taught me about this as a kid using the words "people think you smile with your mouth when in reality you smile with your eyes" this is so much the case that you can tell when a person is smiling underneath a Covid mask if you're paying close enough attention.

since I learned this years ago my fake smiles are flawless, you can tell because when you "genuinely" smile at people they unconsciously smile back, most of the time genuine (but sometimes forced) but they do, if you give them a fake smile they either don't react or give you a fake smile back, never a genuine one

If you want to look for a person who has a happy disposition. Look for the cruise lines from the corner of the eyes outwards

My father taught me this as a young child with autism so that I could actually fake a smile, and people would think I was more approachable

So...At 63 years old. I got a crazy amount of "crow's feet" around my eyes. I don't care what anybody says, they are my proof that, I'm basically easy going. Rather smile in the sun, then frown in the dark. That's my story! 😁

Please note this may not be true for autistic people. I get accused sometimes of fake smiling when I'm not because I only smile with my mouth.

I was working in retail soon after everything reopened after covid so we were still wearing masks so i taught myself how to fake the smile to make it look genuine! Ive never really been a person to smile so its fun to know ive done it rather well

Natural smiles don't hurt the cheek muscles as much
