The Register is for commemorating places with historical integrity. It is not for worshiping the dead. As such, no birthplaces, graves, or cemeteries are allowed to be on the Register, pending unique circumstances.

It's about the history that occurred at a certain place and how that place can still teach us about that history. Not just were the some famous guy is buried or was born.

Yet another example of real history vanishing at the hands of well intentioned but poorly equiped and insufficiently skilled people. Sometimes the best we can do as individuals is to leave things be and to marvel at them from a respectful distance. Many a historical place has been ruined by too many history enthusiast wanting to see, touch, 'preserve' or 'restore' it.
