I took off the face gasket and applied 12x12mm foam and now my FOV is much, much bigger, I'd never go back.

For me of 69-70 ipd and highest ipd setting... even with glasses ; the G2 with even the stock foam and back strap part down my occipital lobe had 100° hor and 112 vertical.

Quest 2 was 92 hor and 112 vertical but I could see the edges of the screen.

Is the G2 fov really smaller than the Quest 2? That doesn't seem right lol. The G2 seems like a garbage headset the more I learn about it.

Look at the background of the Test. On the G2 it seems like he is standing closer to the Wall while on Quest 2 and Index he is further away and you can see more.
On the G2 you cant even see the Text on the Ground while on Q2 and Index you can see the Text.

Head shape, eye depth etc, will be individual BUT the ratio between the headsets will remain whatever your head shape is.

I had the Q2 until I returned it yesterday, now have the G2, and only a few days ago I compared the FOV and they both looked about the same for me, but your eyes look deeper set than mine. The G2 face gasket could have easily been a cm closer though.

is that the Quest 2 with the Elite Strap for the fov?, I have the Quest 2 with the Elite Strap and the fov is better than the G2, I never used the Stock Strap that the Quest 2 came with ever since I bought the headset, I bought a modded facial interface for the G2 on EBay that was 3D printed, hopefully that will improve the fov on the G2, the Index is my favorite headset when it comes to the fov

I feel like these tests are too varied in results .. Some other channels have radically different readings.. I understand not every person will get the same, but there should be a consistency.. How can one person find the FOV better on the G2 by a decent margin and then another person has the complete opposite .. Regardless of your IPD.. if the same person is using different headsets then some things should be consistent.

I'm have a 58 ipd, I get 96 horizontally on the G2.

Can you tell me what stats you get with your Pimax in this test? I'd like to see how that compares, I currently have an original Vive and have no interest in upgrading unless the FOV of headsets improve. Pimax looks great but I've heard the company isn't great (what I really want is a consumer version of the StarVR one)

Hey Thomas, what did you get with the Pimax headsets? I got 120Vert and 140Hor.. what is that for diag fov? Should I be getting more for the Horz? Did you also try this with the XTAL

if your face is very wide then fov on G2 is much smaller. face gasket is pretty small so wider face you get far away from lense.

I may have missed it, but what ipd you used on quest 2? 1 or 2? They said it's lowered at 3d preset drastically

When I remove the face cover of my quest 1 and put it on without face cover the lenses would be almost touching my eyes field of view becomes much more better than before like 30% increase of FOV. I am not sure if a special face cover available for more FOV.

I Don't know how reliable these tests are, people seem to get dramatically different results. what did you get for odyssey plus. That should beat them all but index

From the vid it also seems you have the back strap too high on the back of your head. Might be it fits your head shape like that but Nextgen VR guys said putting it straight with the headset as in horizontaly flat, made his fov much better, dont know, that 78 seems just way too small

Thanks for the honest review, I've been on the fence about the G2. Hopefully Oculus makes a new Rift S using the G2 or better displays, but I'm not holding my breath on it.

I thought the Valve Index had a 120-130 FOV??
