Russia has hosted a ceremony to formally annex four regions from Ukraine – accounting for 15 per cent of Ukraine’s territory.

Vladimir Putin has welcomed Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia into the Russian Federation, after referendums widely decried in the West as a “sham”.
