Tablet Guru Riley is here to check out OnePlus' first foray into the "Pad" space to see if they can deliver more than Apple's iPad, or if this is just a carbon copy.

Purchases made through some store links may provide some compensation to Linus Media Group.

The top/bottom/left/right debate is pretty easy to solve. The side with the screen is the top and the side with the camera is the bottom :)

It's great that Labs testing is being integrated into most LMG videos, even non-reviews like this. They add much more credibility.

The "extra RAM" is probably just a swap file (or page file in Windows lingo). Perfectly normal IMO

Fun fact, currently the only iPad that uses the 4:3 aspect ratio is the 12.9" iPad Pro and the iPad 9. The other models have switched to an A4 (close to 7:5) ratio.

The way I can tell if they intend it to be a horizontal or vertical tablet, look at the boot logo when turning it on. They usually set that to what the "default" screen orientation is.

Just a quick note: $150 is not anywhere near what the Magic Keyboard is ($300)…

So an all in package is under $750, vs over $1, 000 for a 64gb iPad Air, Magic Keyboard, and pencil, or over $1, 200 with iPad Pro.

The "Annular Touch Sensor" means it's all the way around the stylo (look at "Annular Ring Nails"), that way you don't have to hold it with a specific "side" up.

Any alternative to Apple or Samsung in North America will be very nice to have

The color on that selfie camera is insane. The audio was very good too

While this was a good overview of the tablet, I would've loved to see some comparisons with the Galaxy tab line as well, which is its main competitor in the Android space.

I've used my Samsung Tab S7 (2020) as a replacement for a laptop for years now since my laptop broke in the middle of the pandemic and working at home. They kept updating it and the experience just got better and better. So yeah, there have been at least 1 good Android tablet since 2020 on my experience.

Something that's under-reported on reviews is how consistently amazing speakers are on Oneplus devices, especially since the first phones that supported stereo. I guess it's still true with their first tablet

The OnePlus Pad is suprisringly good if you don't want to get an Apple tablet. It's something I would actually consider if I used tablets.

I dig these tablet competitors but the exclusivity of Pro Create continues to sell a lot of iPads

I would watch anything hosted by Riley. I don't even skip through sponsor things when he's doing them.

I'm convinced Riley is the best hire LTT has ever made. He's such a charismatic and funny person.

I think the aspect ratio is to match A-sized paper. A-sized paper has a 1:sqrt(2) aspect ratio, 7:5 approximates that (root 2 divided by 1 = 1.414..., 7/5 = 1.4).

RIley is a treat and he really knows his Apple tablets.

A lot of Chinese tablets have the landscape orientation as the default, while most tablets intended for the Western market default to portrait orientation. Since OnePlus is a Chinese-owned company, that might have something to do with the choice of orientation.
