Kung Fu Panda was just pure growth for the character as a whole & was absolute peak. Honestly, KFP3 felt like the perfect ending to a franchise. Each villain stronger & more conniving or twisted than the last. An amazing story about a panda searching & finding who he is. The fourth movie really just took all that & threw it out the window 💀

Kung fu panda 4 felt like “live long enough to see yourself become a villain”. The trilogy had a perfect ending, it had no purpose for a 4th movie

The trilogy literally went through, in order, finding perfect balance and mastery of his body, mind, and spirit. It was one of the most satisfying conclusive endings I’ve seen for a trilogy. Every one able to be a perfect standalone film.

And here I thought Dreamworks was going to finally tackle Disney and surpass it, at least for a time. But Teenage Kracken, Megamind 2, Kung Fu Panda 4?! After the Last Wish I obviously set my standards waaay to high for this studio. My disappointment is immense.

Fourth felt so small and I don’t know why, like I was watching a cartoon but even the cartoons felt large and part of the story to an extent. ESPECIALLY the joke about Po’s journey being regional..that just made everything feel so-insignificant-really threw everything out the window
