I was just thinking of you the other day. I did some wiring for a 3 phase mill and a 3 phase lathe running off 1 VFD. I'm going to post a video in a couple weeks of what I came up with (for your entertainment), but don't tell the local inspectors! I do find the electrical videos just as interesting as the farm videos. I, too, have many interests. Keep up the good work and thanks for the video!

I'm an apprentice. I know it sucks to teach. But I need to learn some how!! But I'm a 2nd year. So there are certain skills that I should know. But yeah I've seen some guys 3rd year not even know what a bonding screw is. Hahaha.

Love the vids!!!!

This is a good video.
We call this a bootleg upgrade.
What you didnt show is how you killed the main breaker and popped the meter off to make the panel you had your hands in, safe.
This is dangerous work. Skipping steps is not advisable.

I agree with you on bending the wire at a 90 degree angle to make it look nice. Problem is about 95 percent of the panels I get into look like a damn rats nest. Lol.

Junctions are allowed in distribution panels per the NEC...not sure about your local jurisdiction though

Nice work nate! Good to see u putting it all together. If u had an inspector that wouldn’t pass a wire nut in a panel could u soilder the wire and then they would pass it?

Good job, Man. I know you don't like to work the young guys but I think ( in my humble opinion) would you ever consider being a instructor at a Tech college? (so you can show how to do the job the RIGHT way and more efficiently. (just a thought.)

Mr. Nate, I’m upgrading from 100-150amp (was going to do 200 amp but based on electrical usage, was advised that it was not necessary plus the cost). For this upgrade do I also need to also change the meter pan (it’s not damaged or anything)??? I didn’t think I needed to do that since all the components leading to it was rated the same. Can you advise, thanks?

Haha love the video. Sounds like you’re having fun. I’ll be heading to a electrician trade should in about a week and love to watch these kind of talking and working videos. It helps me somehow.
I do have a question: I live in a condo unit and notice the main disconnect is downstairs outside my building and has my unit number and 100 amp breaker panel associated to it. Does that mean the panel up in my condo unit is a sub panel because I don’t see the main breaker shutoff in it? And so if I shut off the main breaker downstairs that would shut off all powers up in my condo?
Thanks!
