one thing my old boss would harp on was to not trim the wires to the breaker. his reasoning which made sense to me, was that in the future we don't know what size of panel, or what position the new breakers will be in. we would run the wire to breaker, and bend a 90 into almost a drip loop if you will. the slack was simply folded into the side of the panel. and while it did take up more room in the panel. it wasn't much. and then we would put the 220v breakers at the bottom and trim them like in the video. that way they didn't take up all the space but still had plenty of length for the next changeout. he'd been servicing the same homes for over 40 years and some of those homes hed serviced when he had first started doing that work needed new panels after 10-20 years. some because they needed to move from a 100 to a 200 amp service. some because the panels at the time weren't the best quality. but none of those panels ever needed junction boxes to extend the wires.

I’m a retired Electrician with 43 years in the trade, your work is a joy to behold. You can never be too neat but it doesn’t take much for a sloppy job to make you question the integrity of the entire job.

I was 20 years old with my first rewire job, I was stoked that I finish fast wired everything correctly, but it was all 14/2.
Took me a day and a half to fix the rewire and a small financial lesson learned.

I love electrical. I’m 41 now am I going to become a master electrician.

I do love a lot of these videos that give personal opinion about style and taste and equate to code. Looking pretty does not mean it’s up to code.

I'm not looking forward to it, but I believe I'll need an upgrade. I appreciate electricians out there who look out for homeowners.

Remodeled my dad's house after he died. Found many issues. The one I will always remember. Wall socket in the living room now has a blue box in it that wires run through ( not an electrician I don't know tech name of the blue box my friend who does this for a living helped with remodel) anyhow my dad God rest his soul had that area stuffed with newspaper we found a date July 2 1960. 😊

I'm not an electrician, but I am a "professional" home owner, and I do the majority of my own repairs/improvements myself. Electrical, plumbing, structural, what have you. I just wanted to point out that you do things much the same way I do... correctly. Thank you for putting out a high quality video that will actually HELP others.

We just had a 200amp service and panel upgrade at my in laws house. Amazing, how many violations that they had. If any of their 240 volt appliances had a problem, I doubt that the oversized breaker would have tripped.

It's allowed in certain circumstances. If the line is wired directly to a device that has its own overload protection

Man, those slotted cabinets for the cable entry is the greatest thing I've ever seen from the electrical industry! How much easier is THAT!

love what you're doing over there with the wire nuts, old bakelite switchgear from the 1950's, and the direct fixing to combustible materials. go usa.

Agree with the guy. First from the safety aspect but also just saves on bills to upsize the cable size.
