The fact that they sell the computer pad and the stylus separate is definitely a Major setback for a lot of potential buyers.

I'll never regret buying my Surface. All it's use cases as a tablet, laptop and digital notepad just make it perfect for students (as I also stated in a video I made on it).

As a Surface Pro 3 user for two years now, I don't get the "tricky to use on your lap" thing I see in many reviews. Here are the reasons the Surface is _better_ on the lap than a regular laptop.

1). It's more stable. The screen doesn't jiggle when you touch it. The Surface is so light, the kickstand is totally fine even on bare legs.

2). The heat of the device is on the screen, not the keyboard against your legs (like a regular laptop).

3). There are more ways to sit. The Surface is fantastic with your legs crossed -- the kickstand fits comfortably over your crossed leg. So, for long work sessions, you can change sitting positions to stay comfortable.

I use it maybe 50% of the time on my lap. The comfort using it this way is one reason I can't picture returning to traditional laptops. That's even more true when the pen and touch come into the picture.

As a Surface Pro 4 owner, I can attest that the new Surface Pro IS worth the upgrade...I own both ;-)
The improved display, speakers, tilt pen functionality, and most importantly, improved battery life is everything I had hoped for.
Sure, it's incremental, but all those improvements combined make for a nearly perfect device. Well done, Microsoft!

Good review, but you completely missed the reason as to why it is a bit overpriced. Microsoft does not want to compete with its OEM, so it naturally set up a higher price for its surface products.

Love my Surface Pro 2017 i7 - 16GB - 512GB - Cobalt Alcantara Typecover and a cobalt blue pen that should show up this week. So far, a much better experience over the very buggy Surface Pro 4 that I returned at launch.

is it just me, or the background music feels out of place.

The Surface Pro 3 was NOT an incremental upgrade. Better kickstand, new screen size, and new design that set the stage for almost all of the surface products. Think he meant 2nd incremental upgrade since the Pro 4.

Can you do a review on the new HP Spectre X2 ? I would like to see how it compares to the Surface Pro

I had the i5, 8g ram and 256g SSD version with the alcantera cover and pen for a couple of weeks and ended up taking it back this weekend for a refund. It was right at $2000 after tax and it just didn't feel like a 2 grand experience with the hardware/software.

The spectre x2 is coming in WAY under the cost of the surface and includes a pen, metal type cover, type c usb, etc... Once I can get my hands on one of those at the store, I'll give it a try. Maybe next time microsoft.

So, I'm thinking about getting this, I would use it as a primary pc, so things like netflix, photoshop and the regular, and also I'm on a tight budget. Should I go for the m3 + keyboard costing £674 or the i5 with 4gb ram costing £773 + keyboard? Any advice will greatly be appreciated?

If Microsoft Advertised buying the keyboard separate in a good spin as "Choose a Pro, choose a Typecover, choose a Pen, and then make it yours" I feel the typecover not being included won't be so bad. Or they could sellthe i5 with 8gb ram model with the grey alcantera and grey pen for $1500 in stores (Instead of $1300 for just the tablet), but on Microsoft's own website you could build it the way you want. I'm thinking Burgandy with a Black pen.

The Pro 4 never got anywhere close to 7 hours....maybe 4 hours. I want some real world metrics on the battery.

I want to but new surface pro. I use laptop usually for office, net surfing, movies. But importantly I use it for DICOM imaging. I want to use it for medical 3d imaging and 3d printing. Do you think programmes like Mimics, in Vesalius and #D slicer, will work on Surface Pro i7/i5 with 8gb ram?
