This is a much needed conversation that should be had in schools at maybe the middle school level. Now there are distinct cultural differences between all types of people. Whether gender, age, race, religion, socioeconomic, or many other demographics and "classifications". It doesn't make it ok to ridicule someone who doesn't abide by a social construct, especially if they're not hurting anyone.

This hits soo close to home. I stopped hanging around other blacks years ago, because I've always been told that I talk white. Swearing, and slang, has never been tolerated in my parents' home. We were told, us seven boys, that this is a racist, bigoted society. We would be judged by the color of our skin, but if we sounded intelligent, the color of our skin won't matter, that we'll be judged by what comes out of our mouths. We went to a Caucasian church, because my parents couldn't find a black church in our religion. Lived in a mostly white neighborhood, because of less crime.

I remember in college, this black kid came to my dorm room (while scoping the room out), asking if he, and his friends could watch The Flip Wilson show. I said no because I had classes, and I didn't know them. A week later, my room was broken into, and my television was stolen. I knew he did it.

Months later, the black kids were holding a sit in, because that kid didn't do his work, and was getting expelled. The black kids on campus didn't want that to happen, and held a sit in. I didn't join in because that kid was the one, who stole my television. All the black kids said that shouldn't matter, because we were all black, and should stick together, which didn't make any sense to me.

When he was moving out of the dorm, I called the police, and had him arrested, because when he was moving my color television, I showed the police where I had scratched my SS number on the bottom of the television, he was charged, and arrested. I was told that I was wrong for doing that. ALL the black kids stopped bothering with me.

Well there is such thing as acting white, obviously there’s some cultural differences between blacks and whites even though they’re all Americans. Even between a white liberal New Yorker and a white farmer from Idaho will have lots of differences.
