So much more to have, water purification tabs or filter, antibiotics, kinetic tools, and most of all tell no one what you have...

I put candles on a cookie sheet, (for safty) then place a mirror behind them. It doubles the light. Camping gear for cooking is helpful too. Iodine is not only good in your first aid kit but can be used for water purification too. Use a coffee filter first to remove larger debris. Then add 5 drops per liter. Wait 30 minutes and you should be good. Have a car phone charger. I've had to drive around to charge my phone.

Candles in a medium sized metal bucket-the kind meant for outside plants, flowers, etc work very well. If candle falls over it stays in bucket. Also better to use large round candles not the little skinny ones. Thrift stores usually have many of these very cheap.

For a night time power outage you will need some kind of grid down lighting. A large jar candle will provide enough light for a bathroom. Just place the lit candle in the center of the bath tub or on the shower floor so there is nothing flammable near it. A head lamp and extra batteries for it will safely light your way inside and outside your home at night, keep your hands free and help you avoid tripping hazards or falls down stairways. A pair of activated glow sticks placed at the top and bottom of an indoor stairway can help mark a potential danger. And activated glow stick placed under a child's bed can serve as a grid-down nightlight for a child who is afraid of the dark.

For a daytime power outage you will need a grid down way to safely heat/cook food indoors and brew a hot beverage. A one burner butane stove is safe to use indoors. A tea kettle, saucepan or skillet will work fine on that butane burner. A propane camp stove or propane grill is safe to use outdoors where there is plenty of ventilation and when the weather is mild. Try to cook and eat the most expensive foods in your refrigerator and freezer first before they spoil.

You will want to have a variety of non-electric entertainments to help pass the time when family members can no longer watch TV, play video games or use a home computer. Coloring books, story books and non-electric toys and games are good to help keep children entertained. Board games, card games, art supplies, a battery powered radio and novels can help keep teens and adults entertained. If one or more family members play non-electric musical instruments, this too can help pass the time.

You will also want a grid down way to charge your smart phone. Small power banks and a portable solar panel can help keep that phone charged.

Wool clothing, a wool blanket, a winter-rated sleeping bag or a down comforter can help keep you warm indoors during a winter power outage. So can gloves, a knit cap and battery powered hand warmers, heated vests and heated socks.

Have everyone of these and a generator, guns and ammo to protect them. 😊

Yeah blackouts going to last more than a couple hours more than a day it's going to last anywhere from what 12 to 18 hours somewhere in that range. I guess it could be a couple days to week like if you're on the what is it the southern part of the equator I'm having a mine fart here for a second but you know I think it has some no daylight for a while to daylight for a while I can't remember how long that's why I'm saying a while

Lighter and lots of matches...you forgot wet tissue and dry tissue. Garbage bag for your poop if there's no water at all. Alcohol to sanitize yourself.
