I'm a native NYer, so are my parents, but my grandparents were all born in SC & GA, and migrated to Harlem and the Bronx before my parents were born. Eight years ago I moved to New Orleans, bc it reminds of NYC. There's so much to do & though I have a car, I really don't need one bc I can walk a lot of places, like back home. And I love the long summers. I love NY, and I'll always rep the BX, but I don't care to ever see snow again.

I live in Maryland, and a lot of New Yorkers are moving here.

I’ve considered PA and VA. I can understand a lot of New Yorkers moving to Jersey since it’s right there. I’m semi-surprised that Connecticut isn’t on the list, but as a Connecticut native, I also get it. It’s extremely expensive here and I’m tired of it. The winter doesn’t bother me just the cost of housing. As a single with no dependents, it is still hard! But because we have higher salaries, it’s best to secure a remote job while living in NY or CT, and take that salary with you where it’s cheaper to live. I’m working on that now.

NJ is more expensive than NY and Georgia housing is absolutely ridiculous where as the job market is still set in the 2000”s

I'm a lifelong New Yorker, and none of my friends or coworkers have relocated, especially after owning their homes or apartments for decades. Some may be snowbirds.

Florida is as expensive as NY. With twice the racism.

This should have been a 'top 10' list. I guarantee some combination of Connecticut, Massachusetts, DC, Maryland, the Carolinas, a surprise state from 'the South', and/or Texas would make that list. We don't migrate far from what we've called 'home', unless there are no other available options.

Left already 10 years now. I left it’s not the NYC I was born in and too many immigrants.

Here in NC, there's so many black NWw Yorkers that move here. When I'm out and about, I meet more New Yorkers than people from anywhere else. I'm surprised it wasn't on the list

I would not move to none of these states. The cost of living is not too much less than new york. A lot of places pay way less than new york, and there is over crowding with millions of migrants at our door steps every week.🎉

There is no jobs in Pennsylvania, and the crime is very high

I’m getting the hell out of here. I wanted to do it sooner but life gets in the way. We are having a reverse migration back. My parents are Southerners. Im first generation NEw Yorkers. New York is no longer NY.

Great video. Quite frankly, my sights are set on moving abroad, it is not an easy process but attainable. I am a NY’er and if still in the US would only consider NJ and Maryland. In this order, international, NJ, Maryland, or Canada would I leave NY and currently working on it.

They are moving mostly to areas like North Carolina. In the South, it is vital to drop the Northern temperament that has held Blacks back in the North, and adopt the ways of the Black Southern Culture that has led to Black Americans building up their own apparatus to thrive on.

I’m not understanding why people in the comments are saying migrate from one state to the other. It’s called moving not migrate. You are not from another country. 😂
