1981 Olds 98 Diesel Start Up

1981 Olds 98 Regency Optioned with 5.7 diesel.

I just bought this very car! It came up on eBay again last week and I immediately snapped it up. Flew to Atlanta and drove it 750 miles back home to Texas. It's in amazing condition! we had 1980 5.7 ss gasoline engine drove it during my teenage, it flay on the roads like bird, wishing to having it again, nice 350engine with 350 transmission, i took it after 7 years of use and droves nice without struggle.

I was surprised to hear a beep like sound when you put the key in the ignition of this 1981 Olds 98. I thought all Oldsmobiles still used the scary buzzer until at least 1982.

Yea Must Be the DX Diesel replacement done by Mr. Goodrich These were alright. By 1982 the problems with Diesels were fixed but coincidence in the daily functions of the car. Buy 1985 The diesel engine was scrapped. They even had a Buick Built 4.3L V-6D produced from 1982-1985. This went into the Buck Century (1982-1985)/Pontiac 6000(1983-1985)/Chevrolet Celebrity (1982-1985)/Oldsmobile Cutlass Cirea from (1982-1985). When Oldsmobile shrank the 98 down to midsized the 4.3LD was used in this as well as the downsized Park Avenue/Electra only for the 1985 model year. By 1986 4.3LD was discontinued  leaving the 1985 Oldsmobile 98 the only available year made it very rare survivors and option that cost another 980.00.
