In this episode we explain why digital electronic shelf labels price (ESL's) aren't ubiquitous in retail stores.
Our batteryless "Immortal" ESL opens up a whole new world for retailers. They now can use technology to change their prices as many times as they want and not have to worry about the thousands of coin cell batteries going dead during their busiest shopping time.

We use our RF harvesting chips to gather the RFID energy from a handheld reader or robot and use it to communicate and update the price of an item on the shelves.

At CES 2022 in Las Vegas we brought a prototype robot we created with Badger Technologies to show the potential of mixing ours technology with autonomous retail robots.

"These get all the power they need from a handheld RFID reader ... " or a robot fitted with RFID that has to physically go up to each ESL to update them.

In other words, the ESLs cannot be updated via a true wireless protocol? A supermarket might as well stick with paper labels.

Powercast's ESLs are a waste of time.
