The following video 'How To Tie a Locked Half Blood Knot' is step by step with video and narration. The Locked Half Blood Knot is a simple to tie knot and suitable for many species from the estuary to the reef and suitable for use attaching terminal tackle using Monofilament line up to 30lb (15kg) however I have seen this used on lines slightly heavier.

Been using the blood knot from bait as a kid, lure as a teenager, now as a fly fishing knot as a man, has never let me down. 🎣

I use this knot exclusively when tying hooks to short lengths of line. It retains 98% of the line strength.

I lost a sea rig because I didn't know how to tie this properly as I'm new to fishing. Thank you

The standard ENGLISH invented half blood knot doesn't need improving. I see no need for this. No matter what the fishing line, monofilament, flourocarbon or braid if the standard blood knot is tentioned right after tying ( I pull the line against a pair of scissors held across the hook bend.) It will NEVER slip. There's no such knot as the clinch knot. That's a yank term.

This is not a blood knot. This is a clinch knot. A blood knot is used to join two lines together
