When you PUSH TOO HARD when the tires are COLD...

This is what happens when you push too hard when the tires are cold. You can see how much oversteer there was in the corners before I spun, so there was a clear indication that rear temps were still stone-cold, so I should have adjusted my brake pressure for the hairpin to reflect that. Instead, I braked with maximum pressure which locked the rear brakes all the way to the apex...

I appreciate that you show some of the lowlights of being a racer, too. Those of us who are casual about sim racing sometimes need a reminder that even the experts aren't perfect. The difference is that you know what you did wrong and how to learn from it, and you have a knack for explaining it in a way others can understand too.

I used to work at an indoor karting here in belgium. It had these big ventilation vents (for obvious reasons), but some of them didn't fully close sometimes. So during the colder months, there where times where the track was as slippery as ice. Was both the scariest thing ever, and the funniest thing i've seen there when i worked there.

Heating up the tires help, keep steering left and right for about 20 seconds or on the duration of a yellow light

I did it at my local track the best way to stop it from happening is litterally to make your tires hotter than a volcano and I mean fully send it when your heating them up and then go for it

That’s when I start to lean 😅
I’d lean forward to get front grip on braking and lean back in exit.

I like when it’s cold because then you can do drifting 😏

Still the same at these tracks in summer 😂

That's not due to the track only being cold. That's because the track is damp.

Wow it’s amazing that when moisture collects on things and freezes it’s called ice.

Could be worse. I have driven in the cold on a kart track that was under an attificial ski slope that leaked water onto the track in certain spots, and slicks were fitted. It was the kart track at Hotel Van der Valk in Wittenburg, Germany.

Thats a good training, as for me. Also its good to train late apex.

Generally they oil the track to add grip but it wears out near the end of the track life before they change it

if it held that woulda saved time and made a clean ass drift

The other day I was doing outdoor karting and I live in England as well. 7 O’clock at night and my fingers were freezing and most parts of the track was iced over. It was annoying but also fun.
