Display Unknown Part - How to know if your iPhone screen is original or fake

I will show you to identify the different clues we have to identify if an iPhone screen display is original or fake - generic.

On the iPhone 11 and later models you can go to
- Settings
- -General
--- About
for the "Parts and service history" of your iPhone. You can also find out if the display has been replaced. If the repair was done using genuine Apple parts and processes, "Genuine Apple Part" will appear next to Display.

An "Unknown Part" message will appear if the display installation is incomplete or if the display:

- Was replaced with a non-genuine display.
- Was already used or installed in another iPhone.
- Isn't functioning as expected.

Check if your iPhone has "True Tone"
Starting on iPhone 8 and later your display screen should have True Tone. Click and hold on the brightness bar on settings, you should see the following:
- Dark mode
- Night Shift
- True Tone

If you have an iPhone 8 and later and you don't have "True Tone" chances are your screen is not original, but we can't be 100% sure.

My iPhone 12's screen checks out on everything but it has a pretty fat bottom bezel. It has true tone, face ID, and no unknown part repair on the settings tho.

Very useful wish I’d seen your video before getting my screen replaced thinking it was genuine.

I had my iPhone 11 screen replaced with what he called genuine refurbished screen but after 24hours I get the message ‘unknown part’ I wouldn’t have had it replaced had I have known this would be documented in my phone history .

Though do you know if the message disappears after 14 days ? I read on Reddit a user saying the message goes away - but if message goes away can Apple still know?

I’ve been offered a solution of replacing IC chip to void this message - do you know if that works ? Or will it create more warning messages on Apple iPhone 11 upwards?

Is there a probability were when you change your broken screen for an icloud one the true tone wont sure, that's even if the screen is original.

if you compare the screens of the iphone 11 to iphone 12, there’s a huge difference. You’re talking about screen bleeding its because ip11 has IPS display unlike the ip12 have a OLED display.

IPS Display has always have a screen bleed on borders like shadows because they using backlight even in genuine you can see that but the difference is the quality of the screen. Unlike OLED has its own backlight per pixels and its organic so there’s no bleeding on them.
