I am totally supportive of this idea of locking the screen and batteries and everything because if somebody steals your phone, they don’t deserve access to that. I am also very much in support of right to repair but not with stolen goods.

I bought an iPhone a while ago from someone, it was a newer model at the time. When I realized it was useless due to being iCloud locked, I was able to sell it for parts for a bit of money. Sucks for people who get scammed but I’m sure it will do more good than bad

Hopefully this only affects iCloud locked phones that were put into lost mode to target thieves but not cause huge wastage of parts in recycling places where people don’t take off their accounts but leave them there

Bro actually before this software lock, Apple make stolen parts unusable. Part swapping bring camera gate true tone gate face id gate,

One thing people are overlooking and it will eventually make repairing your phones really expensive is that it locks parts from a phones with an iCloud account, Not just phones in “Lost mode” or reported stolen. Majority of iCloud locked devices are not stolen, they are locked because the old owners forgot to sign out or forgotten passwords etc. Apple will now become the only Vendors for parts and unnecessary e waste will go through the roof. Repairs will cost as much as a new phone eventually.
