Saw this advice last year and I thought it was crap like it was just for NBA professionals who make millions but i tried experimenting and got my savings from 10% to 40% now. Still far away from the 75% but now i realized the only thing that was crappy back then was me because i was just full of ego and excuses and my lack of imagination that it could work. Made me realize i am my own biggest enemy and i am my biggest defensive "just-look-at-the-economy" pity party in my life. I don't watch NBA but thanks Shaq. This advice is gold.
