It’s really important to remember add/drop dates! If you know you definitely want to drop a class, do it immediately. I had a friend who hated a professor and wanted to drop the class, but waited for the last day to do it. It turned out that what he thought was the last day was actually the day AFTER the last day. He didn’t want to drop after that, so he was stuck with the prof for the whole term.

Just don’t be rude to any security, period. They’re just trying to do their job and keep you safe.

my friend was rude to security once. a couple years later, they asked the same lady for a ride, and she declined. however, next to them, was me. the lady had driven me back. can't say i feel bad for my friend

I will always repeat this. do not date people you go to class with or live in a dorm with. It’s a recipe for disaster

To add, don’t sign up for a class with your bf/gf. If y’all break up, it will be awkward as heck while y’all two try to sit in opposite areas of the room. Don’t ask how I know.

I am the student manager at the library on campus and when I close, I call the security and they drive me back to my apartment and make sure I am inside before leaving. They are always super nice and talk to you, and it helps. I have gotten a ticket for a mistake and paid for it but they were nice when I was frustrated and did not yell at them.

Being rude to college security is a huge one. In general being rude to staff or teachers shouldn’t happen. So many people think “we pay money to come to college so we should not have to deal with staff bs.” But no, you deal with staff bs likely because you didn’t follow rules and weren’t nice about it.

Staff is just doing there job and often gets treated poorly for it so be nice to them, or else don’t be shocked if you don’t get it in return.

i dated someone from my hall freshman year of college. we dated for like 1.5 years and he was great! really an amazing guy. i’m a senior now and we’re not super close anymore but we talk sometimes and he’s awesome. i’m really glad i got to know him for so long. moral of the story: don’t date someone because it’s convenient date them because they’re good people (and maybe try to postpone dating until you’re not living in the same dorm lol)

He’s not joking about the add/drop thing. Be warned.

See, dating someone in my dorm requires someone to like me back, so I am at no risk of making that mistake 😂

They waved my first ticket because I was genuinely confused why I got it, (alternate side parking, I thought I was on the correct side) and security literally said “we typically waive the first tickets anyway, unless you’re super rude about it”

TRUE i parked in the wrong garage! I told them Im a first year and thought my commuter pass applied to all spots at a specific time and they waved it.

My college actually has a shuttle system to get students to the different buildings and dorms late at night

The add drop classes doesn’t matter if you go to a school (like the UCs) that charges flat tuition (you can take anywhere from 12 to unlimited units per quarter for the same full time tuition fee; this allows people to graduate earlier without extra class costs), but if you drop late they will charge like a $50 fee. As for parking tickets, just appeal every single one of them and you might win 90% of them
