CLIP DESCRIPTION:
After getting a blurred photo of a shark, Brody (Roy Scheider) tries to convince the town council that they have a real problem on their hands.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Despite being a less well-regarded virtual remake of the original film, Jaws 2 earned a tidy sum at the box office by combining its predecessor's winning formula with the popular teen horror craze, helping to spawn the era of blockbuster sequels. Roy Scheider returns as Sheriff Martin Brody, whose small resort town of Amity is poised to bounce back from the economic hardship it encountered after becoming widely known as the site of vicious shark attacks. But at the same time that Mayor Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) is welcoming a real estate developer to Amity, two divers disappear and a party of waterskiers is consumed by a shark. The incidents are explained away as accidents, but Brody knows better, tipping his bullets with cyanide and forbidding his sons Mike (Mark Gruner) and Sean (Marc Gilpin) to participate in a teen sailing regatta. Everyone foolishly chalks up Brody's fears to trauma-induced paranoia, and the regatta goes forward, with a hungry great white trailing the youthful contestants and hungrily picking them off one by one. Director Jeannot Szwarc would later helm another sequel, Supergirl (1984).

"That's a shark! And I know what a shark looks like, because I've seen one up close!!" "And you better do something about this one, because I don't intend on going through that hell again!!" Roy Scheider always had the best lines. This performance during this scene, is Roy Scheider, at the top of his game.

The fact that Mayor Vaughn was still mayor and that the town wasn’t sued into bankruptcy after the events of Jaws is truly stunning…

Roy's performance in this scene is fantastic.

I love that Roy Schieder didn't want to be in this movie at all, but still gave a genuine performance.

The concept of Brody being "crazy" In Jaws 2 was kinda clever. Someone who did kill a shark the way he did in the first one might naturally have some kind of PTSD.

Roy Scheider did not want to be in this movie but he had a contract obligation and they paid him a good salary. Even the director and Roy got into heated arguments. Yes he's the reason this movie stands as a pretty good movie as a sequel. RIP Roy.

Roy Scheider is the reason Jaws 2 is watchable. His performance as Brody is arguably just as good or maybe even better than the first film mainly because of how the script develops his character, even if the people of Amity are true idiots.

I agree with Brody later in the film where he says “Showed them a picture of that shark, they didn’t see it. They see *only* *what* *they* *want* *to* *see* “

“And I know what a shark looks like because I’ve seen one up close” understatement of the century

I always thought the deleted scene where they all vote should have stayed in the film. It showed that Mayor Vaughn still had loyalty to Brody and that he didn't forget what Brody did in the first film. You miss all of that with that scene cut out.

Fun Fact: there was apparently a deleted scene where the people at the table deciding to fire Brody the Mayor dosen't raise his hand and says something along the lines of "This man saved this town"

Politicians don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. Perfectly captured in this scene.

I wonder if Roy Scheider let his reluctance to be in this movie come out in his performance in this scene.

"You'd better do something about this one, because I don't intend to go through that hell again!"

Jaws 3D and Revenge are prime examples of you can't make a good Jaws movie without Roy Schieder

Roy is such an amazing actor. He is on a hair trigger in this movie. Mostly due to the events of the first film.
You can hear the PTSD in his voice

"...and you'd better do somrthing about this one because I don't intend to go through that hell again!". What a great piece of acting. Even though Jaws 2 might be a fairly average film, though I love it. Roy Scheiders passion in this scene is worthy of huge praise. Even the "...that's it..atta on!" in the shark death scene was amazing IMO. I always got goose bumps!

This is how you Phone in your performance. Roy Schneider was so brilliant in this film, he made it not just good but great!

Roy Schieder was the only reason this sequel at least stood in it's place. Jaws 1 for sure was the best, but this one wasn't so bad as people think today.
