How come indian shipyards can make nuclear powered submarines in-house but can't make conventional submarine domestically? 🤔

As the things are going project-75i is not going to be inducted by the least of another decade, navy should think of plan b
1) increase the number of additional order of super scorpene class submarine from present planned 3 additional submarine to 5 Or 6.
2) plan for inducting new 5 to 6 nuclear attack submarines on the modified design of 6000 ton arihant class of submarines
Atleast in an decade or half we would have 10 to 12 additional new attack submarines both conventional and nuclear powered.

I am quite optimistic about the Thyssenkrupp deal. The only risk seems to be financial solvency of the company itself (which has been guaranteed by the German government) . Could be a win-win arrangement if Germany plays fair.

1. Not clear from the video what exactly is the issue- what promises have been reneged by Germans. BTW, is it final that the project is awarded to the German company? Further, if Navy's requirements cannot be met any company in the world as of now, then are these requirements practical? 2. It is likely that India may finally have to rely on Russian technology, if we are denied technology by the West under one or the other pretext. France is certainly a reliable partner for us but it is very expensive!! 3. It is also strange that India build SSNs and SSBs on its own but cannot make conventional submarines without foreign technology!!

We must invest more money on defence research and spending. But government is not investing properly on defence research.

To alley the concerns, our side should straightaway ask their reasons for agreeing to them this time and have a tighter contract with penalties if they backtrack. Sometimes I believe we should not acquire any western system. Russian system can be technologically less superior to western but atleast they are trustworthy partner.
