The Motion: This House Believes Individual Apathy is the Greatest Threat to our Climate.

Barry Gardiner MP continues the case for the proposition, as the third speaker of eight in the debate.

Marvelous speech by Barry Gardiner, here. He's absolutely correct - ignore the climate change deniers, and take action. The more we do, the more global warming is limited. The difference between 2C and 4C seems small, but will have massive consequences. So, even if individual action only has a small impact on overall temperatures, the expected utility of taking action will still be high. Walk, cycle or take public transport; reduce and eliminate consumption of animal products; lobby your local MP to press the government on climate action; don't fly.

Why bother with a "debate" in which both sides argue the same point. This is a complete waste of time.

I think more dangerous than apathy is the panic which is fuel by extreme fear. It makes intelligent people do stupid things. There is a good example in this speech where the guy in a very condescending way compared something which we dont fully understand to a simple mathematical equation that can be solved by 10 years old. Pathetic!
