It's unbelievable why people give Wordpress a bad rep. There is a right time and a place where Wordpress Sites is the best solution for a customer.

Also this is how I broke into web development late in life, by getting a job with marketing company setting up Wordpress sites for their clients. This allowed me to start getting paid while learning PHP.

Since then, I moved on and now work as a React JS developer. Whats interesting, that the company that I work for, out business website is build with Wordpress.

My personal site uses Wordpress as well, and anyone looking to get into freelancing, this is what I would recommend.

Especially if you are a one man or woman show. To recreate Wordpress from scratch will take a long time, by using Wordpress, you literally gettin a 1000 hours head start.

Great summary. Usually, the people that bash Wordpress are not in the business of building websites, they are web developers that use Javascript to create software. They think WordPress is a framework like angular or vue, but that is a misconception. I would love to see a WP "developer" version with modern developer tools already installed, and a "consumer" version, for people that just want to install a theme and run a website.

Custom made themes are super fast. I only make my own themes, since I did make some absolutely bloted sites at the beginning. Also started using WP Rig, it's up to date programming standards. The combination works great, for starting up new projects.

I used to be someone who thought WordPress was bad software but I really didn't understand the true power of a cms like WordPress. Once I learned custom post types a whole new world of awesome business opportunitys unlocked to me.

6 months ago I was just an average WP user. Today, I can make my own custom WP theme and simple plugins which enable me to avoid using all the bloated crap out there. Thank you, WP community, for videos like this one. You have changed my life literally.

I'm working with WP as with main platform since 2015. My first websites on WP was build in 2009 and next in 2011. And I'm still not sure in what is good theme, good wp site. Looks forward to your course.

I’m trying to open a e-commerce website, I create droplet on digitalocean but I’m not really sure which os and which control panel will be more good ? And caching system ? I installed cenos 8 and cyberpanel with litespeed then I install wp litespeed plugin stilll having speed issues how can I rise my page speed ? My vps is 4gb 2vcpu only one website.im driving paid traffic from Facebook daily 1000 people enter and purchase product:)

My experience: Most people claiming WordPress is bad aren't really coders. I talked to people claiming WordPress is unsecure/slow etc., when I talked with them about their experience I saw they can't really code, always use ready made bloatet pagebuilder themes and a TON of plugins. The base of WordPress is PHP and when you code your own themes it's just ... up to you :)

The wordpress pay thing, as far as I’m concerned, is still true. It’s like if you want a salaried job and they see wordpress on your resume they laugh at you. Most jobs I get in wordpress are half the price of jobs I get for any other framework or CMS.

Suppose I have a woocommerce with membership site for Desktop and it's loads good in desktop but it's extremely slow on mobile devices. I am planning to make a flutter App which will connect with my site by Wordpress API, will this slow down my App too because of poor performance of my site on Mobile Devices?

Can't believe you are happy with core WP.

Coming from a developer like you with experience and knowledge on modern tools/methods is unbelievable.

WP could improve database architecture, meta data is still being stored in a single table.

Core code should embrace symfony kind of a framework.

A template engine for frontend would be good.

Instead of going for Gutenberg WP team could have come up with multilingual feature and other core improvements.

One click install, drag and drop page builders, auto save, revisions, SEO are the features that keep WP still on the top.

Maybe you don't like to disappoint the viewers or thought its a long debate 😉

I love WP too, but it really needs a lot of improvements.

I think in general Wordpress jobs are more competitive and the upper range of pay is capped lower than other development areas but I also think Wordpress is a great interdisciplinary starting point to get to those high paying jobs. The benefit of Wordpress is it's curse, it really takes a couple weeks of learning beginner programming to start customizing a Wordpress site through code as at its basics it's beginner friendly. You really can't say the same about Drupal or Magento.
