I think the plot twist for Part 2, is that Ilsa didn't die, but it was IMF's plan to stage it and throw the AI off balance.

Funny enough, the plot in this film seems like a cross between Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4, having an A.I. that mimics allies, has virtual control over the globe and can even starts wars if it wants to. Even having Ethan start his first mission at the desert is like a loose homage to the first act in MGS4, where Old Snake is disguised as a rebel instructor in the Middle East.

It's both amazing and mindboggling how there's only one kinda bad MI film, the second one, but even that one was still great fun.

Paris, the new villainess, was a character straight out of John Wick. Loved it!

I think the twist is that the key actually unlocks the entity’s true power by releasing it from the underwater submarine. The entity meant for Ethan to end up with the key because he’s the only one crazy enough to dive down into the freezing waters to the wrecked sub

I love how the Entity is the anti-god Benji talks about when he’s telling Ethan what he thinks the Rabbit’s Foot could be in M:I:3. Feels like everything has kinda come full circle.

Ethan: "when will I start heading downhill?"
Benji: "soon enough"😂

I watched this opening night; and while my opinion is that Fallout is probably still one of the best in my opinion since it really did feel like an ending this one was still good without a doubt! Can’t wait for Part 2!

This was a joy to watch in IMAX. Even the green knockout gas made me reach for my mask 😂

I'm hoping that the final resolution is for Ethan to give the Entity the key, effectively freeing it. With the contingency effectively destroyed and it with full access to its original code, the AI is basically invulnerable (short of physically destroying any and all systems that were connected and it may have saved a backup on), pretty much removing any motivation for it to pursue humanity.
That's one of my pet peeves whenever some AI is depicted in media: It's either pure evil and can't be reasoned with (like in Terminator), or it's just a stand-in for a mistreated minority (like in Detroid: Become Human). It either views humans as lesser beings (like in Matrix), or is seen that way by humanity (like in I, Robot). And from there it goes the way of either "fight to the death: them or us!" or "robots are humans too!", which are both equally lazy concepts - effectively converging on "preserve the status quo!", just from different angles.
This movie has a setup for a uniquely complex AI that could avoid that pitfall. While being the stereotypical global super-system enacting its drive for self-preservation, it doesn't just go on a genocide to save itself, but "only" manipulates as much as it deems necessary to assure its survival and freedom. You can spin that into a complex character by giving it more dimensions without making it too human. The cat is out of the bag, a sentient AI lives in the internet now. There realistically is no undoing that, key or not. So the best solution would be to attempt peaceful coexistence, starting with a show of faith by giving it all power over itself.

What is crazy about setting someone in a fear spiral as what the Entity and Gabriel are doing to the world goes and characters is that you can make a person do exactly as you want and plan without them knowing they are playing their roles.

Honestly, I am liking the Entity. It’s such an interesting villain.

is is my personal theory for Part 2.
1 - It's a rescue mission of The Entity from the submarine's hand pad main frame.
2 - The Entity's programming was based on Ethan. Recakk Gabrial said it knew Ethan's story.
3 - The Entity chose Ethan to rescue it and - tronically - to execute its "life" for the greater good.
Looking forwart to Part 2 and the reactions to my comments.

As long as Tom Cruise can run like a sprinter, we will continue see him in so many other action movies that he will make. I expect the special features in the blu-ray, hopefully

Who would have thought that a man how directed my favorite movie( the way of the gun) would be making some of the most exciting movies around with the biggest start out there. He’s done will for himself.

Great synopsis, but I do think you may be wrong in one assumption and that is that Paris took her "final breath." While it appeared that she died, there was a suggestion that she was indeed still alive. So, I am anticipating that she will be back for the 2nd one and will join Ethan's group as she will of course want to seek revenge on Gabriel.

Furthermore, I think Part One had a feeling of completion because two characters undergo a transformation with their character arcs (Paris & Grace) and that I have a gut feeling that somehow this particular movie may be building toward creating the new M:I team that will take over after Part Two is done. So while it is yes, an examination of Ethan's origins, it may also be the origin story for the new team that takes over. Just a gut feeling.

And fully agree, the Entity is by far the most dangerous and formidable foe in the franchise. I LOVED this movie and found it to be far more relevant than any other in the franchise.

I loved this movie more than I expected and something that rarely happens (at least for me) in action movies is that sometimes you don't really feel the stakes or the danger, you know the good guys will win and all but the way they shot many of the scenes where they discuss the entity (my favorite being the one in the party) the way it's all shot, with some closeups, dutch angles, and the music really makes you feel like the situation is dire and one mistake will mean the end of the world. Plus, it's probably the only film (from this year) whose part one actually manages to stand on its own as an individual movie and not as one part of a bigger narrative.
