Hellenic Polytheism 101: Praying Tips

Should prayers be memorized? Should I use my own or borrow from previous written work?

For prayer i use a YouTube piece that is suitable for prayer and i have deites in mind that i wish to pray too or sometimes i use other music for prayer and i feel that i am getting answered and understood.

I pray from the heart 99% of the time, I speak to the gods respectfully, but also as if they were a friend, as I know they have my absolute best interest in mind. only when I'm feeling extra "formal" do I use Homeric, or Ophitic Hymns. I think the Orphic Hymn to Aphrodite is soooo beautiful, it is one of my absolute favorites. There's a video on YouTube by "QueenieSongs" and she does a wonderful musical composition of the Orphic Hymn to Aphrodite, as well as Hymns to the other gods as well.

I have this problem that I just dont feel this whole holiday/formal and convulated rituals stuff. Im more of just washing hands, lighting a candle/incense or maybe pour a libation and just read a prayer wrote by myself.
I cant, i just cant, take myself to take that whole “miasma” stuff and khernips and all that seriously. Is just to much, It feels like a chore and… I dont want my communion with my Gods to feel like a chore. So I just do it this way and I actually feel reaaaally good. Actually, just today Lord Hermes is helping me to find a new job.
Im really new to the Hellenic faith, so I would like opinions!

Hello Pic. I have some ready done prayers in my book of shadows that I copied down but I also wing it as well and just say what I need. I just talk to the gods like they are there in front of me I always have done it this way
