It all started when Mamaktahi was the Minister of Education. He make education a political football & change the merit system to the longkang system you see today. University can produce 600 plus PHD a year who could not comprehend a professional thesis.

Bottom line - English is the media in international schools. Nothing involving loss of Malay culture or lslamic values. They have their parents and their local imams to take care of that. They only get a more usable education!

This is a typical chain reaction because in the Government schools they get pampered and passed with high grades and at the end of the day when they face reality they feel let down. Then the Government steps in to give them priorities and handouts outs which nobody else gets because the argument is that their status needs to be elevated. We have been independent since 1957. I think that the rational Bumiputra sees through all this and wants to live a normal life and face competition rather be favored and treated as though they are handicapped.

It's about EDUCATION that's NOT political oriented.
Just pure education for kids to gain the necessary knowledge to be a better and learned person as well as to be employable when the need arises.
Any school that offers this is a GOOD school.

It is after all about marketability and more choices to select for employment either local or other country. Livelihood of living is still the primary concern.

Nearly 2 decades I hear the same thing about education standard dropping,
Now we even got the Bumiputra Land Corporation, forcing people 'a holistic understanding of the Malay culture' by surrendering 20% of anyone's leasehold lands upon renewal to bumi status.

Now 16% of Chinese Primary school students are Malay. Why Malay want to enroll their own kids in Chinese School that need to pay some monthly fees compare to Government schools that are free?

These international schools conduct their subjects in Malay? if not....understand the real importance of English in the real world economy, finance, and foreign you want to train a future of religious preachers.

Two decades ago when I attended my children report card day in secondary school. The first question the teacher asked (she is from east coast) did I send my children for tuition classes. Since then I never attended any report card/parent days.

60% subjects in SK are Islamic while SJKT/C offer 100% ilmiah no religion at all that makes SJKT/C better.

That’s for sure, what they get from national school nowadays ? During my years 1980s yes national school are really good but now they got too pampered until maximum level.
