We took the Tica bus March 2020 and it was stress free :) it did take us pretty much a whole day to get to Rivas Nicaragua where we decided to start our exploring the next day on to the ferry to Ometepe where we stayed two nights, we rented each a dirt bike much fun.
Our flight was dirt cheap from Montreal to San Jose $ 411 each, this is why we chose to land there but we did some sight seeing while in Costa Rica this was my third trip there and was very disappointed to experience the cost rise to anything we wanted to visit. :( But it was worht the travel by bus.

Hey Scott, useful info as always. Glad to hear the prices may be coming down. Just to get the perspective of one who has traveled in and out of Nicaragua, when would you say is the best time to book, if one wanted to travel to Nicaragua, say May of this year?

Some great insights, I’d like to share one thing about the Best Western. Last night many guests who made reservations with third party bookers had issues. The hotel could not confirm some of these reservations. The front desk was polite and professional but many of our cards ended up being charged twice.

On my recent Visa renewal trip to Nicaragua I was shocked by price increase. But then I base it on shoppingf at La Colonia, a pricy suparket owned by Walmart. I live in Costa Rica and our prioces are about half that at numerous Chinese supermarkets. Rents, and taxi fares have not changed much thouge. But as of present I feel Panama would be the best choice. Just not Colon or Panama City. Nothing nicer than Bocas del Toro and island hopping with water taxis.

I’ve had lots of weird glitchy issues with my GoPros no matter how many times I update the software. I’ve had nothing but great luck with Insta 360 so no more gopro for me.
