Hagar: Alone in the Great Unknown | Dr. Safiyyah Ally

This video begins with Hagar in the desert, worried for her young son Ishmael, without food or water or anyone else in sight. Hagar’s story teaches us some important lessons about being alone in the great unknown. It reminds us that we must not sit back and wait for God’s deliverance. Trusting in God doesn’t mean inaction; we still have to do our part to help ourselves. In addition, it shows us that God can provide for us out of nowhere. The solution might come from where we never expected, and it might be bigger and better than what we imagined or prayed for. According to Muslim belief, she was the daughter of an Egyptian king who gifted her to Ibrahim. Although not mentioned by name in the Qur'an, she is referenced and alluded to via the story of her husband. She eventually settled in the Desert of Paran, seen as the Hejaz in the Islamic view, with her son Ishmael.

Very powerful presentation with an allegorical approach. Thanks. The book of Genesis chapter 21 tells us that Abraham gave bread and a skin of water to Hagar and child Ishmael and they were sent off. This was caused by wife Sarah. She wondered off into the desert of Beersheba which in Southern Israel. A scholar remarked that this was the 2nd time she was sent out.  Note also Beersheba is some 861 miles from (new) Mecca. When Hagar wept, God called from heaven to comfort her.  When she opened her eyes she saw a well of water in front of her - a miracle no doubt. God was also with the boy. He grew up and settled in the desert of Paran, and became skilled with the bow. His mother got him a wife from Egypt - her homeland ?. The Quran 2/158 refers to Safa and Marwah hills and in the note no 160 of A Yusuf Ali's translation refers to Zamzam spring among things known by traditions. Some Chemists have detected Arsenic in zamzam water. The Study Quran has 6 commentaries including one on the town of Taif being close to Mecca for local food produce available to Hagar.  Bible continues the story of Abraham to say that he married Keturah after the death of Sarah. Giving him six more sons. Abraham didn't produce any daughters. Right? When he died and he was buried by Isaac and Ishmael in a cave near Mamre in Israel.  It is odd other sons were not present at the funeral and last rites. Scholars still debate if Makka/Bakka may have been Jerusalem or in Petra region. Therefore is it possible then Mecca is in fact New Mecca taking shot into the unknown?

The glorious Koran doesn't speak about any spring gushing out from the sand because prophet Ishmael was a grown up boy when Hagar and Ishmael were left in the desert. This video is based on biblical story that glorious Koran doesn't support.

Hagar ran back and forth between 2 hills? Not a very smart strategy to take when trying to navigate through a desert. This account is fabricated and makes no sense. Its only purpose is to justify a pagan ritual.
The biblical account clearly states that God commanded Abraham to abandon Hagar and Ishmael because his promise to bless the entire world was to be fulfilled through Isaac and not Ishmael (Genesis 21:12) Even 4000 years later, God's Word condemns falsehood and shines forth the truth.
