'The Fate of Ishmael: Son of Hagar, the Forgotten Firstborn?'

Ishmael, the son of Hagar, is often remembered as Abraham's discarded child, born to a slave. But is that the whole truth? "And the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, 'What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there." (Genesis 21:17). Even in the barren desert where Hagar and Ishmael were left to survive alone, God did not abandon them. The Lord heard Ishmael’s cry and, with His infinite mercy, promised to make him into a great nation.
