PUSH - PULL Train with EMD Locomotives | Indian Railways

Показать описание
Enjoy the rarest action of Push Pull Trains hauled by two EMD Locomotives, one at the front and one at rear end of the Train. Though Push-Pull Concept is not a new idea, this is the first time two EMD locomotives are used to operate a Train. Earlier a Single ALCO used to be attached in the middle of the train and Special Control cabs similar to Motor Car coaches of the present day DEMU use to operate the trains. Push Pull trains quickly faded away from Indian Railways once the DEMU's and MEMU's got successful.
The railways is now experimenting the Push Pull concept on Conventional coach trains as it saves time on Loco reversal and also two locomotives help in quick acceleration. Its also a advantage for the new crew to quickly get into the locomotive. This in turn reduces the halt time at Railway stations and platforms can be made free for the next train quickly.

Train : 56221 56222 56225 56226 Bangalore City - Tumkur Passenger.
Locomotive : KJM WDP4 20055 & 20060.
Location : Bangalore - Tumkur line.

In the generation of extreme electrification, this is so refreshing!!

That could be the game changer move. Time is money. I welcome it.

Thanks for sharing this good video. Push-pull systems may increase in fuel consumption and pollution; but the main purpose of this service is to save valuable time. From that point of view, it's a good idea. A large ship consumes and pollutes what about 150 train engines do. You should ignore thinking pollution!

Amazing videography bro. Push pull may reduce time for reversal but fuel consumption railways should primarily consider.

IR has ample diesel locos to harness after electrification of many sections... May be this is the best way to utilise them...

Nice video l like tha diesel locomotives wdp4 d

Instead of wasting 2 high powered EMD locos, 2 WDM 3D or WDG 3A or WDP 3A can be used and both will work on less diesel consumption. Also, already high gradient routes like Bangalore Hubli and Bangalore Gooty lines, this method is very useful especially for pulling 24 or 26 coaches express trains. Passenger or slow moving trains can be done with two WDM or WDG class locos combined together also get 6000 HP plus power. thanks for video. thanks for eliciting opinion.

But this will increase diesel or electricity consumption

but this one is a historic capture. very nice.

Indian railway must use push-pull method at every section. Is kay karan Travel time cut hoga.

1.08 = its not what you see it, the rear loco is in idle mode and not helping in any sort of pushing and all. And the arrangement was in use because of the Mysore work that stopped the morning ASK MYS pass from going all the way to MYS, this way it saved the time and platform road usage during busy hours.
2.12 : Notch up sounds very weird, don't think so rear loco was doing any notch up n all.

@TheRailzone, and other open for debate.... (excellent shot by the way, good job)
Yes all this is fine but at what cost?
The wdp4 laging or pushing is mostly at low power or idling and its one extra engine practically not even in use
Instead they must invest in passenger dmus which are more powerful and can conquer gradients on the swr or any other sections
The ksr mys line is prime example why there is a desperate nedd of memu trains for rapid intercity service, i get the gradients and curves are too much on the current dmu and emu trains then we must build development or even buy tried and tested technology a more powerful emd and dmu train sets is the need of the hour
Not train 18 quality or price but something better than icf emus and dmus
Something like a non ac lhb coach 24 coachs in push pull configuration with modified wap4s on ends eliminating power cars(eog) we have plenty of wap4 they less power than wap7 and further with maby new efficient traction motors need same power to run locs end to as that of a wap7 that would be a milestone for the Indian What do you think?

What I wanted to find out is, whether the both locos operate at the same time? .. Or only the pulling loco on one side each time

train 18 will take 20 or 30 yrs maybe for reaplac in express trains.
Think of LHB coaches first in bhopal shatabdi. After it take 6 to 10 yrs to replace Rajdhani and shatabdi.
Still not atleast all super fast trains get LHB coaches.
Our government will take yrs to implement bad projects. Good projects are implemented sooner.

but for 16 coaches, two emd locomotive (8000 HP) is extrodinary. this technique can be used in 24 coaches train or 22 coaches lhb train.

I was readily comments, yeah this Concept is Good but is Not Cost Effective, Isn't it? I'm Wondering why ir don't focus on bringing more emu/Dmu for Passenger & Must Convert All Passenger Trains to Train Sets.

Cannot imagine that the Indian Railways would waste 8, 000 HP to haul 16 coaches and that too on a short haul like SBC – Tumkur. Most of the passengers would be season ticket holders and railways will be burning diesel and cash on this experiment. They wouldn’t do this if they thought and acted like a corporate that’s out to make profits, but it is run more like a charity. Why not deploy a DEMU on this sector? In the long run, electrifying this route and running MEMUs would be the right approach.
